The Workshops are Offered Monthly at Schuylkill Community Action.

Knowledge: The key to owning your own home is knowledge. A well-informed homebuyer is better prepared to achieve home ownership. Our three sessions prepare participants to make better purchasing decisions. The workshops are presented in an easily understood format.

Affordability: Special home financing may be available. You may qualify for special mortgage programs that make it easier and less expensive to buy a home.

The Schuylkill County Community Homebuyer Workshop Series consists of three sessions. The Workshop was created to help residents of Schuylkill County prepare for home ownership.

Please keep in mind that while our sessions are conducted in a classroom setting, there are no tests to pass or grades to achieve. If your goal is to own a home, we're sure you will be interested in the topics discussed. It truly is our goal for every participant to own a home! After completing all three of the sessions, each participant in the workshop is entitled to a certificate. The certificate may entitle you to special mortgage opportunities offered by many of the sponsoring lenders.

The Homebuyer Workshop Series will help you to:
1.	Be in control of your budget.

2.	Understand your credit rating.

3.	Determine how much home you can afford.

4.	Identify needed repairs before you purchase.

5.	Buy with a lower down payment. You may qualify with as little as 5% down payment or less.

6.	Maintain your home's value in the years ahead. By budgeting and scheduling for regular maintenance, you are preserving the home's value.

This program is made possible through the Schuylkill County Homebuyer Coalition and the Schuylkill County Commissioners. The Coalition consists of local financial institutions, including: M & T Bank, Susquehanna Bank, VIST Financial, Liberty Savings Bank, Keystone National Bank and Trust, Sovereign Bank, and Wells Fargo.
